Ultra-Conservative Ex- Legislator José Antonio Kast Voted In as Chile's Incoming Head of State.
After a definitive second-round vote, ultra-conservative politician José Antonio Kast has clinched the top job in Chile.
A Clear-Cut Victory
With over 99% of votes tallied, Kast garnered 58.17% of the ballots, overcoming leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who earned 41.83%.
This marks Kast's third presidency, having in the past been beaten by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
Platform Built On Security and Immigration
Recognized for his strong socially conservative views and praise for the era of dictator Augusto Pinochet, Kast's electoral bid was primarily centered on promises to address rising violence and drastically curb migration.
