The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by bleakness, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and supported its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about following this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to evolve comedy past its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well catalyze that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
