Recent Details Come to Light About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
The Initial Report
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Furthermore refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
