British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and plans to retain her coach into the 2026 season.

The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year because of a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate before starting plans for the 2026 season.

These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
