A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
